Madison & Mabel Boutique in Frederick, Maryland challenged me to design ten new pieces using vintage skeleton keys. Of, course, those who know me, know that I LOVE custom work, and am always up for the challenge to design one-of-a-kind pieces. So, here they are, from old to new! When my oldest was only eight years old, she designed her first line of jewelry and branded it Ivie Market. She sold her pieces alongside mine and loved that women were drawn to her work. Over the years, she has produced amazing pieces of art from pottery to charcoal to watercolor.

I am so pleased that she has taken an interest in GDO again, and this Summer began accompanying me to The Market and other events. She enjoys learning the business side of this operation as much as she enjoys creating and selling her own designs. Her silk chord necklaces have nearly sold out and, she received her first wholesale order from a local boutique where we live. Next week I'm taking her with me to NYC on a buying trip. She's as excited as I am to get inspired.

Girls Day Out has been selected to be one of the vendors for this years Kings Family Vineyard Pink Ribbon Polo. 

013 Schedule of Events

• Match is on Sunday, June 16, 2013 at King Family Vineyards with Event Announcer Michael Waring.
• Gates open at 11 a.m. with pre-game festivities and the Boutique Shops.
• The Tasting Room opens at 11 a.m. Tastings will be available throughout the day for $7/person and includes a special signature glass.
• 12:30 p.m. Stick and Ball Warm-Up
• 1:00 p.m. Match
• 4:00 p.m. Awards and Raffle
• All proceeds will benefit the Virginia Breast Cancer Foundation and Every Woman's Life.

Arrive early to take it all in. The gates open at 11 a.m. along with the shops. You will also be able to preview the raffle items available and purchase tickets for your opportunity to win.

The players will take the field for their stick and ball warm up prior to the match. Please do not walk onto the polo field at anytime when there are horses on it!

The match will begin at 1 p.m.with the Star Spangled Banner and Player introductions.

We will make our raffle drawings post match and announce all the winners as we wait for the players to make their way to the Player's Tent for the Awards Ceremony. Please everyone join us at midfield.

Around 4 p.m., the Award Ceremony will begin with the presentation of team and individual awards and gifts. The Pink Ribbon Polo Classic Perpetual Trophy will be presented to the winning team by the winning team sponsor.

EVENT Lucketts Spring Fair May 18 & 19 10a-5p

The Lucketts Store Spring Market is a true extravaganza!  Seasoned antique dealers & people who just have too much cool stuff, will fill the Lucketts Store grounds May 18th and 19th for our Spring Market. It's our biggest event of the year with great bands, yummy food, and always perfect weather!  *fingers crossed*   The Market will be on the 15 acres surrounding the Lucketts Store and Design House {42350 Lucketts Road in Leesburg, VA}.  In true Lucketts-style it's gonna be better than ever!  

We have over 170 fantastic dealers lined up this year from all over the country. Many vendors have been featured in your favorite books and magazines, including Country Home, Country Living, Romantic Homes, Junk Market, Southern Living, and Veranda, just to name a few.

The market is open both Saturday and Sunday and we will have killer antique and vintage items for you and your home, including furniture, lamps, home accessories, collectibles, clothing, and much, much more!  Expect a day of food, fun, and great deals. We won't disappoint!!!

This year we have partnered with Hometalk, a home & garden community where DIYers and pros share ideas, inspiration and advice, for a Hometalk Meetup on Sunday, May 19th!  We are super-excited to be joined by our favorite junker, Donna, from Funky Junk Interiors, for the Meetup on Sunday, May 19th! 

Gates will open at 10am and stay open until 5pm each day. Admission is $7 per person per day {children 12 and under are free}  NO PETS PLEASE.

Meet for lunch under the tent with A NEW highlight this year, boxed lunches from Richmond's Favorite, Sally Bell's Kitchen. This is a great way to kick off Fair weekend!

Saturday, April 20th from 9:00-3:00 will definitely go in the record books for a fun filled day!  Start the morning by participating in the Fun Run and then race over to the field for games, inflatables, and yummy fair food! Don't forget to register for the always exciting and competitive Dodgeball tourney andLip Sync contest. For lunch, plan on meeting under the tent for many options!   NEW this year—Chick-fil-A, and grilled hamburgers/hot dogs, and Papa John's Pizza. One thing is for sure, you won't go home hungry!

The winter months have flown by for me this year. I don't know how that happened, but, in the blink of an eye, already, we are heading back out to the City Market in Charlottesville, starting this Saturday, April 6th. Trip Abroad

Last year I traveled abroad to the United Kingdom, where I visited friends and family who I hadn't seen in over a decade.  I brought Girls Day Out with me and set up several trunk shows throughout Chester and London. I was thrilled by the interest in my designs. I came home after a two week stay and immediately planned my return for 2013. So, tomorrow I go back. Packed to the brim, again, with new designs, and anxious to go back to the country I fell in love with the Summer I was fifteen.

Out With The Old and In With The New

2013 is well under way, and I'm amazed, already, at the amount of business coming in with the new year. My goal during my "slower" months is always to freshen up the business a little. And, this year is no exception. New packaging, New logo, and of course, loads of new designs. I'm so happy with how the new logo turned out. I had a vision, and it came to life with the help of graphic designer, Kennia of deidamiah.etsy.com. Staying true to the GDO feel, fun fresh and fashionable, here it is.
